My Experience at the EMDR Conference 2026

I recently had the opportunity to attend the EMDR Conference 2026, and I came back feeling so inspired, excited, and even more passionate about the work I do.

One of the things I love about being a therapist is that there is always more to learn. Every client is different, every story is different, and continuing to learn helps me bring new perspectives and tools into the therapy room.

The more I learn about EMDR, the more convinced I am of how powerful this approach can be. I continue to be amazed by the connection between our past experiences, our emotions, our relationships, and what our bodies and nervous systems can continue to carry long after something has happened.

My Favorite Presentation

My favorite presentation of the conference was “EMDR Therapy Through a Mind-Body Lens: Expanding Understanding of AIP, Connection, and Coregulation.”

I loved this presentation because it connected so closely with something I already believe and practice with my clients: the relationship between therapist and client is such an important part of healing.

Therapy is not just about learning coping skills or talking about what happened. It is also about feeling safe enough to explore difficult experiences, understanding what is happening in your mind and body, and having someone there who can stay present with you through that process.

This is something I try to create with every client I see. Before we work on difficult memories or deeper wounds, I want my clients to feel that therapy is a space where they can be themselves, feel understood, and move at a pace that feels right for them.

EMDR and Grief

I was also especially excited to learn more about EMDR and grief, since grief is an area that is very close to my heart and an important part of my work.

Grief can look so different from person to person. Sometimes it is sadness. Sometimes it is anger, guilt, anxiety, numbness, or even feeling stuck in a particular memory.

Learning more about how EMDR can be used to support the grieving process gave me new ideas and tools that I am excited to bring into my work with clients experiencing loss.

And Then There Was the Community...

One of my favorite parts of the entire conference was something I wasn't necessarily expecting: the people I met.

I had the opportunity to meet so many Latino therapists, and we created such a wonderful little community. We shared experiences, learned from one another, laughed, connected, and talked about what it means to do this work within our communities.

As a bilingual therapist, this was especially meaningful to me. There is something very special about connecting with other therapists who understand the importance of language, culture, family, and identity in the therapy room.

I came home not only with more knowledge about EMDR, but also with new friendships and professional connections that I hope will continue for many years.

Coming Home Inspired

I left the EMDR Conference 2026 feeling grateful and motivated to keep learning.

Every time I learn more about EMDR, trauma, grief, relationships, and the nervous system, I feel like I understand a little more about how complex—and resilient—we are as human beings.

And ultimately, that's why I continue doing these trainings and attending conferences. It isn't just about collecting new techniques. It's about becoming a better therapist for the people who trust me with their stories.

I'm excited to bring everything I learned back into the therapy room and continue helping my clients understand their stories, heal from past wounds, and create healthier relationships with themselves and the people they love.

Regresando a casa inspirada
